The bible of Mary (Peffley) Mangus is now owned by Mrs. Dexter
Thomas. It was printed in German by Michael Billmyer at
Germantown, Penna in 1810. It was presented to Mary Peffley at
the age of 16. Peffley is spelled in German "Paffly" with an
umlaut over the a and y. The size of the bible is 4 1/2x7x1 1/4
inches bound in leather.
Theodosia Thomas and Daisy Shackelford have a number of samplers
made by Mary Peffley Mangus and also some white cotton stockings
made by Mary for her wedding, 24 pairs. She spun the cotton yarn
and knit the stockings.
