1450 - ESTHER (Hettie) PEFLEY, (dau. of No.1065) married in Mont. Co., Ind., 1836 LEWIS
OTTERMAN JR., born in Virginia Jan. 12th, 1812, died June 13th, 1896, Mont. Co., Ind. (son of LEWIS and GLORY (Null) OTTERMAN).
Both are buried in Stoner Cemetery, near Ladoga.
Lewis Otterman Sr. was born Jan. 22nd, 1784 in Westmoreland Co., Penna. died April 26th, 1867, near Ladoga. He married Glory Null, born June 4th, 1793, died July 11th, 1845 near Ladoga (dau. of Phillip Null) Lewis and Glory are buried in Stoner Cemetery. They
were the parents of twelve children: John, Lewis Jr., Phillip, Elisha, Elijah, Eliza, (triplets), Joseph, George, Mary, Elizabeth, Samuel and Henry. All grew to maturity, six reached
advanced age, among them the triplets.
Lewis Otterman Jr. went to Indiana with his parents in 1830, settling in Mont. Co., Clark Township. He went on his farm in
1836, where he spent the remainder of his life. He had one of the
finest farms in the southeastern part of the country, having
between eleven and twelve hundred acres at the time he divided
the property among his children. He retained 350 acres. He was a
friend of the free school system and education in general. He was
originally a member of the Hawk Creek Church, but in 1847 he and several others started what is now known as the Christian
Chapel.
