Focusing resume on skills helps one avoid white lies
Dreary recitation of job history and dates is type of document that leads applicants to fudge. Carole Pefley, owner of the resume-writing service TESS Inc. in Indianapolis, says office clerks have lots of skills that are easily transferable to other jobs. "They juggle multiple tasks on deadline. They often set up new filing systems to streamline the operation. These are the kinds of things they need to bring out in their resumes."
After digging deep to identify skills and accomplishments, a job applicant may next prepare to list educational credentials.
