George Earl Peffly Jr., 85, formerly of 1624 Eaton - Lewisburg Road, Eaton, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, at Greenbriar Nursing Center in Eaton. Born Aug. 22, 1912, in Germantown, he was the son of George Earl and Ida Mae (Hamilton) Peffly Sr. He had worked for NCR in Dayton for 17 years, was owner/operator of Congress [bowling] lanes from 1953 - 1966, and retired from Auto Valve, Inc. in 1980 after 14 years. Mr. Peffly was a 50 - year member of Bolivar Lodge #82 F&AM in Eaton; a 50 - year member of Eaton Chapter #22; a 50 - year member of Preble Council #135; a 50 - year member Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton; a 50 - year member of Eastern Star and past worthy patron of Gleaners Chapter #182 OES, and a member of Wolf Creek Rod and Gun Club. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Viola W. (Loy) Peffly; two sons and daughter - in - law, Walter E. and Laveda Peffly Sr. and Robert E. Peffly, all of Eaton; seven grandchildren; eight great - grandchildren; and six great - great - grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Arthur and Forrest Peffly; and a grandson, Donald W. Peffly, in 1978. Funeral services were Monday, Sept. 29, at Barnes Funeral Home - Eaton Chapel, with Pastor Gary Wood officiating. Burial was in Mound Hill Union Cemetery, Eaton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Emergency Squad.
