Stirring up independence
Jefferson House helps mentally disabled find their place in the world

Each member is responsible for helping make decisions on what they will eat for lunch that day.

Members may go grocery shopping, make standards and run the business of the clubhouse. In the spring they will plant flowers and a garden.

Bob Peffly of Eaton made lunch Wednesday. The consensus was for a brunch so the group made pancakes and sausage. It cost $1.

"It feels like home here, and it's a place to belong," Peffly said.
