James J. (Joseph) Peffley Sr., 59, of 1230 E. Chestnut St. died yesterday at home. He was a retired Lebanon County sign foreman for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, an Army veteran of the Korean War, a Melvin Jones Fellow and a past president of the South Lebanon Lions Club. He was a member of Avon Zion United Methodist Church and the Friendship Fire Company and a former member of the Avon and Prescott fire companies. Surviving are his wife, Mae L. Peffley; three sons, Donald W. and Brian D., both of Lebanon, and James J. Jr. of Allentown; a daughter, Jodi L. Kuzo of Fredericksburg; four brothers, Ammon and Wilbur, both of Myerstown, and Ernest and Richard, both of Lebanon; three sisters, Mary Checket, Marguerite Yiengst and Joan Newmaster, all of Lebanon; a grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in his church. Burial will be in Grand View Memorial Park, Annville. Viewing will be from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Christman's Funeral Home.
