Earl F. Peffley Wenatchee

Earl F. Peffley, 87, a resident of Wenatchee and former resident of Sams Valley, Ore., died early Monday morning, May 19, 1997, at Central Washington Hospital.

He was born to George Washington and Lillian (Wainright) Peffley at Mabton, Wash., on March 17, 1910. At a young age, Earl moved with his family to several different areas, settling in Wenatchee in 1917. He attended Wenatchee High School and went to work for the Wenatchee Produce and later for the U.S. Post Office.

He married Ruth Iris Wilson at Okanogan, on Oct. 23, 1932. They later moved to Sams Valley at Gold Hill, Ore., and purchased a farm, where Earl loved to prune the trees, plow the fields, plant, and attend to the cattle. In 1989, they moved back to Wenatchee to be near his family.

He was a member of the Sams Valley Grange No. 666 in gold Hill, Ore.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth, of the family home; daughter Pat Butler and son-in-law Gerald Butler, of Salem, Ore.; granddaughter-in-law Jackie Butler, and great-granddaughters, Samantha and Shelby Butler, all of Salem, Ore.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by grandson Jeffrey E. Butler; two brothers and two sisters.

At the family's request there will be no services.

Jones and Jones Funeral Directors of Wenatchee are handling arrangements.
