D&F Distributors to build Harrisburg warehouse
By Jim T. Ryan
D&F Distributors Inc., a Cumberland County-based distributor of candy and drinks to convenience stores, will build a 9,000 square-foot warehouse on the corner of South 17th and Mulberry streets in Harrisburg.
Building plans are awaiting the city's final approval. Construction could begin in the next 45 days, said D&F President David Peffley.
The warehouse will cost between $500,000 and $600,000 to build and will have four separate units, he said. Peffley plans to lease the units for commercial use and keep one for his business, he said.
The warehouse could add eight jobs in the city, and redevelop a vacant lot that has become an eyesore, according to a planning report from the city's Department of Building and Housing Development.
Other businesses in the neighborhood include Advanced Composite Products Inc., Piccolo's Café, a Rapid Pallet warehouse and Sam's Auto Service, according to the city.
