Marjorie June Evenson, 64, of Humboldt died Monday, July 3, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo. She was born May 26, 1936, at Watertown, N.Y., the daughter of George and Myrtle Spicer Norris. She lived in Watertown until the age of 8. She then moved with her family to Neodesha. She was graduated from Neodesha High School in 1954. She was a member of the Humboldt First Baptist Church and belonged to the Virginia Circle, American Baptist Women's Ministries and White Cross. She had held office positions in all the groups. She was also secretary of the Gleaners Sunday school class. She was a homemaker and enjoyed listening to her radio while spending time with her cat. She also enjoyed sewing, crafts and being with friends. On June 6, 1955, she married Robert G. Evenson at Neodesha. He is deceased. She is survived by three daughters, Carolyn L. Baxter, and her husband, Terry, of Kansas City, Mo., Sharon L. Shoop, and her husband, Raymond, of Cherryvale, and Charlene L. Evenson of Humboldt; and a son, Carl Robert, and his wife, Linda, of Trinidad, Colo; a sister, Doris Birdsong, of Cherryvale; a brother, Delbert Norris of Neodesha; four stepsisters, Jenny Burns of Abilene, Mary Smith of Florida, Joan Council of Neodesha and Jeanie Jacobs of Florida; and five grandchildren. A daughter, Karen Jacobs, died earlier. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Humboldt First Baptist Church. The Revs. David Medley and R.A. Pefley will officiate. Interment will be in Fredonia City Cemetery. Evenson will lie in state at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Thursday. The family will receive friends at Johnson-Kunkel Mortuary in Humboldt on Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorials to the American Baptist Women's Ministries-White Cross may be left at the mortuary.
