Gladys Hawley
Gladys Laura Hawley, 100, of Winfield, formerly of Cambridge, died Feb. 8, 2004, at William Newton Hospital.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Miles Funeral Service. Burial will be in Cambridge Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m.
A memorial has been established with Winfield Rest Haven. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Hawley was born Jan. 26, 1904, near Grenola, in Elk County, the sixth of eight children of Bertha (Pefley) and Jacob Logsdon. She was educated at the Spring Creek School near Grenola and later at the Windsor School near Cambridge.
On Dec. 15, 1926, she married Pearl W. Hawley in Winfield. Their first and only home about two miles east of Cambridge where they farmed and ran a cattle operation. Her husband died May 3, 1990. She continued to live on the farm until moving to Winfield Rest Haven on May 1, 2000.
Hawley was an active member of the Cambridge Church of Christ as long as her heath permitted.
Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Keplinger, Grenola; three sons, Ellis W. Hawley, Iowa City, Iowa, Carl E. Hawley, Cambridge, and Raymond G. Hawley, Coffeyville; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, five stepgreat-grandchildren and 12 stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
