Teresa M. Peffley, 74, of Palmyra, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at Hershey Medical Center, surrounded by her family.
Born in Lebanon on December 19, 1932, she was the daughter of George M. Horn Sr., of Lebanon and the late Margaret Bennethum Horn.
Teresa graduated from Lebanon Catholic High School in 1950. In 1950, she began her career with the Bell Telephone Company as an operator, from which she retired as a manager in 1984. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, shopping, traveling, annual family shore vacations, playing cards and board games, and was an expert Pac-Man player (and Ms. Pac-Man, too). She socialized regularly with her high school classmates and was a member of a monthly card club.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, John Peffley; daughter, Elaine Kramer and her husband, Dane of Leonardtown, MD; step-daughter, Jeanne Peffley and her partner, Cathie Gillen of Arcata, CA; brother, George Horn, Jr., and wife, Jeanette of Lebanon, PA; sister, Dolly Kildee and husband, Brian of Gaithersburg, MD; brother, Mike Horn, Sr., and wife, Libby of Potomac, MD; brother, Ronald Horn of Lebanon, PA; brother, John Horn and wife, Ada of Lebanon, PA; sister, Anita Horn and husband, Jim Quinn of Boston, MA; and brother, Martin Horn of Lebanon, PA. Her grandson is Jason Kramer of Leonardtown, MD. She is also survived by her uncle Frank Horn and wife, Irene of NJ; aunt, Eleanor of NY, and aunt, Mary of PA. Other survivors include five nieces and eight nephews, and five great-nieces and six great-nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., on Monday, February 26, 2007, at The Church of the Holy Spirit, 245 W. Pine Street, Palmyra, with interment to immediately follow at the Grand View Memorial Park in Annville. Friends are invited to call for a viewing on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m., with Recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m., from Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 126 S. 9th Street, Lebanon. Pallbearers are George Horn, Sr., George Horn, Jr., Mike Horn, Sr., John Horn, Dane Kramer, and Jason Kramer. Casketbearers are her nephews, Michael Horn, Jr., Steven Horn, Andrew Horn, Gregory Horn, Christopher Horn, Brian Kildee, Geoffrey Horn, and George Horn, III.
In appreciation for the loving care that Teresa received, the family asks those desiring, to send memorial contributions to the Nursing Fund, which provides teaching, incentives, awards, and scholarships for the nurses at Hershey Medical Center. Checks payable to Penn State, with "nursing fund/Teresa Peffley" in the memo section, should be sent to Office of University Development, Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, P.O. Box 852, Hershey, PA, 17033.
