PEFFLEY. - On the 16th of Feb., 1891, near the Strasburg church, Franklin Co., Pa., of the infirmities of old age, Sister Lydia Peffley, aged 80 years. She leaves a sister and many warm friends to mourn their loss. She was a consistent member of the Mennonite church for many years. She was blind twenty years before her death, but her spiritual eyes beheld that beautiful land "where milk and honey flows." She left a hope behind that she has obtained that crown of life and that rest which remaineth for the people of God, Sister Lydia's brother Samuel (see notice above) died but thirteen days before her. Only one sister, widow Veronica Coffman, remains in the family. These three lived together these many years. Her remains were laid to rest on the 19th at the Salem church, where services were held by Peter Wadle in German and P. H. Parret in English, from Philipians 1: 21. Many friends and neighbors assembled to pay their last respects to one whom they loved. Herald of Truth, Vol. XXVIII, No. 5, March 1, 1891, page 77 Kauffman - On Aug. 19, 1903, near Letterkenney, Franklin Co., Pa., Sister Fannie Kauffman, at the ripe old age of 85 Y., 6 M., 27 D. The sister fell three weeks before she died and broke her hip, from the effects of which she died. She was a consistent member of the Mennonite church for a number of years and had often expressed a desire to go home and be with Jesus. A little more than a year ago she had the misfortune of falling and breaking her arm. In both these instances she bore her pain, which at times was quite severe, with patience. She was laid to rest in the burying ground adjoining the Strasburg M.N. Services were conducted by J.S. Burkholder in the opening text, by P.H. Parrett from Phil 1:21, "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain" (and I believe it was the sister's eternal gain), followed by Joseph Martin. Services were held in the barn of the brethren Henry and John Bricker, with whom she made her home. May the Lord bless the brethren and sisters who cared for her. A Brother. Herald of Truth, Vol. XL, No. 47, November 19, 1903 - Page 375 Peffley. - Ernest, the four months old son of Hurley Peffley, of Elkhart, Ind., died Sept. 24, 1919, of Inanition. He leaves his parents, grandparents, two brothers and others. He was brought for his burial to the Whitehead Brethren's burying ground Sept. 26. Funeral services conducted by John F. Funk. [I found a Harley Peffley in 1920 living in Elkhart County. I believe most, if not all of the Peffley's living in this county were from the line of Jacob #664, however while these are awayback uncles families, I have not done much work with those in that area. There was not an obit placed for this child in the Gospel Messenger, the Church of the Brethren publication; all of the burials in Whitehead Cemetery aka Maple Grove Cemetery located a mile south of New Paris IN appear to be the family of David 1808-1881 & Mary Bear 1808-1892 Peffly and Samuel 1799-1861 & Catherine Primley 1810-1865 Peffly with none found for Ernest nor his father.] Gospel Herald, Volume XII, Number 28 - October 9, 1919 - page 527 Peffley, Mrs. Ora F., daughter of John R. and Margaret (Landis) Stauffer, was born near Lancaster, Pa., Feb. 7, 1873; died at her home in Lancaster, Dec. 30, 1961; aged 88 y. 10 m. 23 d.
