Allen Barnes, 86, died Sunday at his home. The funeral was to be today at 4 p.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home with James Andrews officiating. Burial was to be in Pinehaven Memorial Gardens in Hollywood. Mr. Barnes was a retired farmer and a member of Columbus City Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Vera Harris Barnes; four daughters, Reba Metevia of South Holland, Ill., Charlene Cobb of Scottsboro, Sybil Peffley of Crete, Ill., and Violet Townsend of Birmingham; six sons, Henry Barnes of Hammond, Ill., Herbert Barnes of Woodville and Emmett Barnes, Curtis Barnes, Kermit Barnes and Neil Barnes, all of Scottsboro; six sisters, Mary Lee Click of Arab, Bertha Snider of Albertville, Evelyn Hornsby of Huntsville, Edna Melvin of Cullman and Willow Dean Barr and Helen McWorter, both of Birmingham; a brother, Jim Barnes of Arab; and 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice or Family Life Missions, 103 Apache Drive, Starkville, MS 39759.
